Meet our Musical Director and our Accompanist
Robin Stubbs
Robin began his career as an organ scholar at Chester Cathedral and later studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. Whilst in Manchester Robin was a staff member at the Cathedral and organist to the Huddersfield Choral Society.
After graduating, Robin moved to South Wales to become Assistant Organist at St Woolos Cathedral and to continue his studies in London working with professional choirs and making several recordings and broadcasts. Robin began school teaching in 1990 and soon became a Prep School Director of Music.
In 2001 Robin moved to Jersey to take up the post of Director of Music at the Pro Cathedral and Director of vocal music at Victoria College. In 2008 he moved back to the mainland to take up his current post as Director of Music at Plymouth College Prep School. For 12 years he directed one of the most formidable church choirs in Cornwall - St Mary’s Launceston.
He has recently taken up the post as Director of Music at St Andrew’s Church in Ashburton and continues as Musical Director of Britannia Choral Society in Dartmouth.
David Green
David studied at the Royal Marine School of Music and Dartington College of Arts. During his time at the Royal Marine School of Music he won the Cassell prize and was awarded the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians of London.
David spent much of his career serving as Pianist and Organist to the Staff Band at Royal Marines’ School of Music at Deal before his final move to BRNC Dartmouth.
On leaving the Band Service he was appointed as the Director of Music and College Organist at BRNC, working hard during this time to revive the size and reputation of the Britannia Choral society.
Following this David and his wife spent ten years teaching in Lincolnshire. In 2009 David was appointed as Director of Music and Head of Performing Arts at Plymouth College.
In 2021 he took the post of Director of Music at St Joseph’s School Launceston with its renowned choral tradition. In addition to this he was appointed as Organist at Yealmpton Parish Church with its magnificent organ. After working with students from those just starting out to those taking Diplomas and others moving on into the world of professional music making after graduating, David has now made the move back to performing himself.
He is relishing working with Robin and the choir, with whom he acted as locum Conductor before his move to Lincolnshire.
